  44. DESCRIPTION
  45.  
  46.         The Twilight Development System (TDS) provides an integrated
  47.         programming environment for writing and compiling source files
  48.         like Turbo Pascal or Borland C++. The main program of the
  49.         package is a powerful text editor called Twilight Editor (Ted)
  50.         which includes an integrated project manager. This project
  51.         manager simplifies and speeds up the development of programs
  52.         composed of different source files (modules). With TDS it's
  53.         possible to compile and link these modules into an executable
  54.         file with a single command and if the compiler finds some
  55.         errors, they will be reported directly by the editor. TDS
  56.         doesn't provide its own compiler, but can use any compiler or
  57.         assembler callable from Shell. It can interface directly with
  58.         many common compilers like DICE C, SAS C, Lattice C, Aztec C,
  59.         DevPac, A68k, PCQ, HCC, GNU-C, Amiga-E, Oberon and even
  60.         programs like TeX, CatComp and MakeInfo. If the compiler is
  61.         not supported, it's possible to write a little interface
  62.         program to convert the error messages in a format readable by
  63.         the editor. The compile process will be executed concurrently
  64.         using another program called Twilight Make (TMake), so the
  65.         user can continue to edit the source files while the compiler
  66.         is working.

  68.         The Twilight Editor (Ted) has many functions to support the 
  69.         creating and editing of source files. The number of files 
  70.         which can be open at the same time is limited only by the 
  71.         amount of free memory and so is the length of a single text 
  72.         file and line. For every file Ted remembers every change done 
  73.         and allows an unlimited Undo and Redo. It also handles 
  74.         horizzontal and vertical blocks (Cut, Copy, Paste). The user 
  75.         can set and jump to bookmarks and search and replace strings 
  76.         in the file. There is also a reference command to quickly get 
  77.         information about autodocs functions and structure 
  78.         definitions. Other features are complete customization of the 
  79.         keyboard bindings, automatic saving, user selectable screen 
  80.         mode and font type and an ARexx port.
